Clearwater Pool Systems is breaking new ground in automatic pH regulation.
The pH-Pure system automatically regulates pH using carbonic acid. The pH is directly related to the amount of CO2 dissolved in the water. Water looses constantly CO2 because the carbon content equalizes with the surrounding atmosphere.
The pH-value is only relevant in connection with chlorine because chlorine is no longer active from a pH-value above 7.8. The reactivity of ozone, on the other hand, is pH independent.

For the quality and durability of water the content of CO2 is nevertheless recommendable. Minimal amounts are necessary to keep the pH between 7.2 and 7.6.
For example, a 20-liter tank of carbon dioxide 3.0 is sufficient for a pool of 40,000 liters for about one year.
