A whole-house water filter is installed centrally in a building’s water supply. This filters the water before it reaches the individual outlets throughout the property.
This means that the filter system treats not only drinking water in the kitchen, but also water in bathrooms, showers and other water connections.
SAN-MAXI combines three different natural filter stages, each with a different function.
Depending on the substance and filter stage, undissolved particles are retained mechanically, while various dissolved substances are bound or adsorbed. These include heavy metals, chemical contaminants, chlorine, hydrocarbons and certain long-chain PFAS.
The substances that can be reduced, and the extent of the reduction, depend among other things on their chemical properties, their concentration in the incoming water and the operating conditions.
Yes. SAN-MAXI has a mechanical filtration rating of 1 µm.
Undissolved microplastic particles and other particles larger than the relevant filter threshold can therefore be retained mechanically.
With the optional SAN-TITAN , mechanical fine filtration can be extended to 0.2 µm or 200 nanometres .
SAN-MAXI is the multi-stage whole-house water filtration system. It uses three natural filter materials and a mechanical filtration rating of up to 1 µm.
SAN-TITAN is an additional mechanical fine-filtration stage made from titanium, with a filtration rating of 0.2 µm or 200 nanometres.
SAN-TITAN can be installed downstream of SAN-MAXI. Depending on the application, both systems can also be used separately.
There is no plastic, sealant or adhesive in the water-carrying interior of SAN-MAXI.
The filter housing and filter cartridge are made from 2 mm-thick 316 stainless steel and are hand-welded.
The filter media used are also of natural origin.
No. The SAN-MAXI filter cartridge can be backwashed and is designed for long-term use.
Regular backwashing removes retained deposits and can extend the cartridge maintenance interval by up to 50 % .
Depending on water quality, consumption and operating conditions, one cartridge is designed to filter around 150,000 to 220,000 litres of water .
After use, it is returned to SANSEI and fed into the designated recycling cycle. A deposit is charged for the cartridge for this purpose.
SAN-MAXI does not require an additional high-pressure pump for the filtration process itself.
The system operates passively using the existing mains water pressure. This allows the water to pass through the different filter stages without an additional high-pressure pump.
This is precisely what we are investigating through repeated independent laboratory analyses under real operating conditions.
For one SAN-MAXI installation, the following aerobic mesophilic colony counts were measured downstream of the filter using the same filter cartridge for more than a year: 7, 6, 8, 1, 2 and most recently <1 CFU/ml.
The first documented sample was taken around 40 days after installation. A sample scheduled immediately after installation was accidentally not sent to the laboratory. This means that this series of measurements cannot be used to determine a percentage reduction in colony counts compared with the incoming water .
What the series of measurements does document is this: Throughout the observation period of more than a year, no increase in aerobic mesophilic colony counts downstream of SAN-MAXI was observed.
The filter cartridge was not backwashed during this series of measurements. This does not reflect our recommendation: SANSEI expressly recommends regular backwashingto flush out retained deposits and extend the maintenance interval.
SAN-MAXI is not a conventional salt-based water softener. The water is therefore not completely softened.
The natural volcanic mineral used has a microporous structure and can bind calcium and magnesium ions through ion exchange. This can reduce some of the water hardness.
At the same time, the water is swirled within the system. The resulting hydrodynamic conditions can influence the crystallisation of calcium carbonate and thereby alter the behaviour of any remaining limescale deposits.
In everyday use, this means: Remaining limescale deposits may be easier to remove. This can reduce the effort required to clean taps, shower surfaces and aerators, as well as the use of acids and descaling products.
Some of the natural minerals remain in the water.
